In a way, this exact subtext is why Stockholm Pride 2015 was so amazing to participate in. Swedes are typically these incredibly reserved folks. Then out of nowhere, this: http://imgur.com/a/WSlUBET (I'm assuming this link will work, if it doesn't, let me know)

Pretty much, yeah. From my perspective, it seems that there's enough pre-existing understanding that for the most part, there's no need for such a massive "hey, we exist" pushback, so it becomes more of a uniformly celebratory thing.

Not to put a point on it, but it should throw into sharp relief just how fucked things are in the US when to my knowledge, even Sweden's second most right-wing party (SD) is at least somewhat okay with the LGBTQ+ demographic, their main "concern" is immigration-related rhetoric.

And keep in mind, we're talking about a political party that literally lost a defamation case about a radio DJ calling them "xenophobes". And to any SD voters who want to crawl into my mentions and defend your party, spare me the effort of blocking you.

The point is, when even SD are somewhat okay with the LGBTQ+ community, as long as you're not brown (which itself is a fucked enough political view), it just makes it all the more abundantly clear how close to the line things have really gotten in the US.
