For me, I've got two: The Red Pig, in eastern Tennessee, and Siam Garden, in Matiland, Florida.

yeah, same here, there was a great North-African- & Persian-cuisine restaurant in the town I lived, but then I had to move far away, work-related. Visited two more times on weekends, just to dine again there, and by the 3rd time there was a different restaurant in that house :/

Yup, the Caradaro Club pizzaria in Milwaukee's 3rd Ward which burned down in the 80's. They moved a couple of times, their kids took it over but it was never the same.

Another one out here was Vivi's in Cupertino. Run out of business by rents, bulldozed under and is now a Starbucks. It was a favorite hangout for Apple employees. It was also where I was sitting when the 1989 earthquake happened.

The small city where I went to University had this extremely dingy hole in the wall Vietnamese restaurant. I'm still on the hunt for vermicelli bowls even half as amazing and I'm in the capital city of the province now, so tons more options... But yet nothing quite the same...
