If it's not plugged into anything else via other analog wiring that has a path back to the PC, then that's just crappy design. There's no excuse for not filtering that stuff out locally. Ground loops are the real problem.
You could try just putting a giant capacitor across the power pins inside the mic, if it's just a power filtering issue. Or try a better or shorter cable.
I never figured out how to make my Nano work as a DAC, but I do hear this whine in my sound card output whenever my camera is on. It never occurred to me that it’s USB’s fault. I thought it was just crappy onboard sound.
