hey I've got a question, would y'all say that the term "sanity check" is ableist, and if so what would be a good alternative?
"Rationality check" makes an equal amount of sense. So does the original term, but since the intent of a term is 100% meaningless in a day and age where the spaker's intent is entirely meaningless, and the only important thing is how people interpret it, better safe than sorry.

Sorry for my typo, I meant "the speaker's intent", not " the spaker's intent". Since intentions are meaningless and we now live in a world where Dune's "killing words" are 100% real, I feel the need to clarify.

We can no longer assume positive intentions and that an inept techie is simply using domain-specific terminology in an attempt at being as effective as possible in communications, it's much better to assume that everyone wants to subjugate another person absent any other indicia.
