So a set of objects, with a defined palette, get loaded due to a user's debug action. The objects have a palette that dates to who-knows-when, prior to the game being finalized. There's a finite number of palette entries, most likely all reserved by sprites in the shipping path.
Yeah, I'm going to call this one in your favor on the grounds of common sense. Non-shipping debug thing causes bugs not seen in the shipping title. There's a reason why even now, testers are advised not to file bugs that originate from debug functionality, unless told otherwise.
