Need a programmable version to bring the price down and make it a more accessible medium.
In that case, getting them dumped would both preserve history *and* give a good starting point for things to upload to a programmable version.

A couple have been dumped already but weird thing is the ram pack version for the pt50 that u could program yrself apparently doesn't playback on the common models according to tablehooters (ram pack is insanely rare, only seen 1 or 2 for sale in 17 years so can't verify myself)

They probably made sure later models didn't recognise the ram pack as they didn't want anyone copying the RAM format and using that to make much cheaper illegal copies of the ROM packs.

I think I found the patent for them also but I might be confused as it was definitely the earlier Barcode format patent that I did find and I just assumed the rom pack protocol was there too as the key lighting system for both was patented.
