This is why it's difficult within the context of MAME specifically. The reason why CD-i Emu runs CD-i games well and MAME doesn't comes down to the years of reverse-engineering that CD-i Fan put into CD-i Emu. I'm normally against paid emulators, but IMO, he deserves the cash.
But is he available to share all his info with you or to contribute to Mame? I've seen his emulator, and I suspect one day it'll be forgotten while Mame will never be forgotten. Mame gets more momentum as time goes by.
