I wanted to look into it, but I spent a day trying to get up and running in a decompiled environment The game was written using XNA 4.0, a library that was EOL'd 5-6 years ago, and is a nightmare to get running with modern version of Visual Studio.

As far as the situation goes: - The game apparently starts up, believing that it is not actually part of the current Steam session. - As a result, no Steam-related APIs are available. - It seems to be the fault of the 3rd-party Steam library.

It honestly chafes me that such a popular game, with such massive revenue, still has such a bargain-basement approach towards QA prior to a major release. I understand that this issue only reared its head in between releases, and might be only indirectly related.

Nonetheless, the whole "Steam clients don't think that they're connected to Steam" issue is a significant issue (based on the 30+ page thread on the Community Hub on Steam), yet there has been zero communication from the dev team other than the issue post. That's not cool.
