My money is on the C code: "the spec was wrong"
It still doesn't seem happy, or at least touches don't appear to register. Might need to actually trace out the ARM code and see what it doesn't like. FML.

I wonder if the expected data range is important. The values were variable requiring the calibration step since it was resistive touch

Most likely important, but there must be some baseline check of "is this sensible", since it doesn't seem to move the target icon after I tap and hold on it. The calls to input_set_abs_params in jorn720_ts.c are interesting, but not enlightening.
