Start with bread. It's baking and it's easy to get it right plus everyone loves fresh bread, except the allergics or anti-gluten people (like me, but i love it anyway).

Not a bad idea. I tried jumping into the deep end by attempting to make an apple crumble for Thanksgiving. Half a bag of flour, half a bag of sugar, and assorted volumes of microwaved butter later, I learned that I am an idiot and should stick to savory foods.

I'm still trying to figure out all the stuff mom knew how to make but never managed to teach me. Baking, though. Our oven is... an experience. Is the temperature actually 200C? Or is it hotter? Is that smell the batter cooking or is the oven completely on fire? ADVENTURE!

Yeah, a problem with baking is the fact it requires following instructions pretty accurately in order for the result to not be disasterous
