I mean, the office viewing of the movie hasn't even gotten to this point, but the part where McClane is on the 30th floor, then both elevators suddenly platform and subsequently explode - what the hell? There's no way that could or would plausibly happen.

Were there explosive devices in the cars? This isn't something that was ever shown in the movie. And even if there were, how did the terrorists even register a hall call at that point when they were more concerned with riddled with bullets by McClane?
