Flat-screen TVs are the worst thing to ever happen to gaming. I used to be an expert at Guitar Hero, Rock Band, and other music/rhythm games. At NordicFuzzCon '19, when there was a system connected to an actual CRT, it was like nirvana. Not anymore. It's all laggy bullshit.
Even consumer OLED displays aren't that great. As far as I'm aware, most of the TVs being outed as "OLED" just have an OLED backlight and still use the same bullshit subtractive process to block out the backlight to create colors. Good luck finding one with per-pixel OLEDs.

Depends on the model and the mode. LG OLEDs procedure proper additive colour. Some use white back lights exclusively for HDR peak brightness, which typically isn't about colour (bright whites in the high dynamic range for lights, specular highlights or daytime sky, etc).

But without trying to sound like a shill, LG's BX/CX series have excellent, full SDR gamut colour (we use these for colour finishing sometimes). For both gaming and films, they're your best option today. Not "zero lag", but very low and very consistent, which both matter.
