Like, what the fuck, is it really that hard to just make a mode for a TV that just shits the pixels from the HDMI stream into a framebuffer, and immediately presents it? Or the audio packets from the same, shoving them out the DAC? Why is this such a fucking struggle?
Doesn't it literally take MORE person-hours to develop some post-processing algorithm that takes so many frames to process on the shit-house, anemic MCU that you people are insisting on putting into TVs? Why the fuck is this even an issue?
And no, don't talk to me about "game mode" on your TV. Don't even start. I've had "Game Mode" enabled on my TV for years, but the thing still has upwards of 40-50ms of video lag and easily 10-15ms of audio lag. Don't even fucking start with me.
If you're just pushing the raw pixels out to the framebuffer and pushing the raw audio samples out to the DAC, this wouldn't BE an issue, but it IS, so clearly there's some bullshit going on even in this supplemental mode, so what the fuck?
My LG has a Game mode that does pretty much this.
A framebuffer is still one frame of lag... there should be, like... a linebuffer.
I can deal with a definite frame of lag. If we can all agree that there's going to be exactly 16.67ms of video lag, then I can program that shit into the game's calibration mode and be happy. But there isn't, and that's bullshit.
not to be That Person but those high refresh rate Gamer Monitors dont have these problems ime, i can barely tell input delay difference between ps2 3rd strike on crt and fbn 3rd strike on at least this particular 144hz monitor (and even then a lot of that is just emulation)
if you need TV Size or have a reason why you want to play console gh3 specifically then i understand that not being an option, but if you can run your game natively on something that spits out displayport or hdmi2.1 then one of those should solve your issue
