The more I change audio devices, and the more programs actually *use* the Windows audio stack, the more likely that Windows will give up entirely and require me to reboot. It's a colossal pain and I'm about to put my work PC out the window.

The only issue I had, before finally converting my last Windows machine to Linux, was Bluetooth completely losing the ability to use A2DP (even though HFP worked fine).

Not the same problem, but I got win10 and audio overall just works badly when using headphones. sometimes they won't connect, and that's me using a cable. and microphones are worse.

I have to disable the built-in microphone to make it pick up on a plugged in one

Can't say I've had that problem but it does slowly bitcrush my audio until I turn audio enhancements on or off Doesn't matter if they're on or not, but toggling it always fixes it for a while

Yes. And for some reason (for me) it varies between users on the same PC. Audio out just won't work sometimes for my partner, but when I log in or just reset, it's fine.

For some reason, Zoom seems to exacerbate the issue. Until now I've not had the need to use it, so I've only had to reboot every 1.5-2 days, but I've literally had the audio stack die 4 times in the span of 45 minutes. It's infuriating.
