Sure. Header mark, then 20k bytes of data. Metadata in the last 256 bytes of the last track, so you an identify last tracks and they should then give a size. Directory starts track zero, fixed size file descriptors, file zero is directory itself.

I still have this mahoosive NEC SMD drive sat on a shelf. lol Along with the buffer board I made for the SMD interface. But I used the same chips for read/write data as for control, and they didn't seem fast enough to even write an MFM track at ~8 MHz.pic.twitter.com/lSietRByzF

So it got literally shelved, as Mark was getting the original Fujitsu "Eagle" HDD looked at etc. I was just using the DE1 FPGA board and some very basic Verilog to move the head position etc. That part seemed to work fine. But writing/reading the data didn't seem to work right.
