Step 4: Make it abundantly clear in your UI/UX that only compressed images will be shown inline. Seriously, how hard is this to understand? What the hell?
Would be enough with the text "compress and show as photo inline" instead of that one.
Right, that's what I find so irritating. It's a completely unclear behavior that could easily be clarified with a few more words on a particular UI widget's callout.
You're certainly passionate about UI. I'll pass the feedback along to the team for you and maybe we'll see those extra words added for clarity.
Thank you. My gripe isn't so much about whether or not there's still an option to post the image inline in the chat, it's about whether or not the option which has subsumed it makes the end result clear, and I don't feel that it does.
I don’t do UI so I don’t really get the terms but... i find no difference in resolution when it’s compressed or without compression cos both is lower in resolution as compared to sending as a file previously... and the files I send myself is just a a few 100-200kb illustrations..
This is pretty much my point in a nutshell. An image being compressed or uncompressed can often have little effect on the resulting size, and so additional actions on the part of the application cannot be reliably inferred by a user from such a selection.
