Is it a setup where early reads are forced to enable the ROM, but the code has to jump to the "real" ROM address? That was common on some other processors, but there's no obvious reason to do it on an ARM.

Nah, I just did a stupid. I had multiple ROM paths defined in my .ini file, and when MAME encountered the new ROM that I nabbed from your archive, the CRC32/SHA1 didn't match, so it continued searching, and ended up finding the original (bad) ROM in another path.

Also for some other good clean ROM dumps: https://archive.org/download/MagicCapROMs … Two of the Motorola Envoy ROMs are from pre-release hardware, HIX-300 is unreleased hardware and was Bill Atkinson’s personal unit. Just in case you or somebody you know likes DragonBall processors :)
