Got to be honest, I wish I had known about @InspectARTeam before I started manually tracing out that Quantel keyboard PCB a couple of weeks ago.
I'm more a software dude than EE, but the idea of automated PCB tracing using computer vision excites the absolute hell out of me!
When you get right down to it, the two use cases are remarkably similar. I wonder if it's just that "Hey, our software can help you work out other folks' boards" isn't necessarily so palatable to potential investors, so it's intentionally omitted.

Yeah the difference is the data input format. With "forward" engineering you have the board data files. For that I'm quite fond of ZofZPCB, OpenBoardView and Whitequark's Kicad OpenBoardView exporter.

Definitely, but what I mean is that they wouldn't have let me know about their software in the first place if it required a board data file. After all, I was pretty clear in my tweets that I was tracing out some random PCB photo supplied by someone else. :)
