Actually getting input working on the Quantel DPB-7000 emulation is like pushing a boulder up a hill.

The problem is that we were still discovering digital video ourselves. Even in house, the analog and digital people were still struggling to find a shared language.
Oh, I don't mean video input. I mean user input. I'm not complaining - it's a fun challenge. A keyboard with an M6803, bit-banging serial over to the TDS Box running an M6303, getting data over a SCN2681 from a tablet running a Z8681, and handing data over to an M68000. Wild.

You are looking deeper than any one of us did then. Yes, presumably someone in the company knew about all those bits. But I doubt anybody knew the lot. On the other hand, the guy who knew was only at the next bench, so if you needed to know you had but to ask.

Honestly, I'm just glad that you folks (and the folks at TDS) were all about debugging and verification. So far I've found that the computer box, the TDS box, and the floppy controller all have debug modes that they can be flipped into. The tablet itself probably does, too.
