The unfortunate thing about RetroArch making thousands of bucks a month off the back of other emulator developers who don't see a dime? I could download, decode, analyze, and encode a swath of Laserdisc games for use in MAME if I had a capable enough Ryzen machine.
It wouldn't be, if people acknowledged the caveats with doing so. But no, they claim to be getting some sort of purported "authentic" arcade experience, when the reality is that it is anything but that.

By promoting a 17-year-old build of MAME, they're openly stating that the past 17 years' worth of work put into MAME isn't worthwhile. Yet you have people like Linus Tech Tips who honestly think that they're giving people good advice by suggesting a RetroPie build.

I honestly have no idea what you are talking about. At the beginning, I thought you were saying you work for RetroArch, and they wouldn't let you raise money for a faster computer. Now you are saying people shouldn't run MAME2003 on their slow computers.
