I was watching a documentary last night of a guy who has restored the original cut of Star Wars by layering five prints on top to remove any damage. There aren’t a bunch of fonts / brushes to do checksums on for the 7000 though, right?
Managed to make some progress on the Quantel DPB-7000 last night. The font brush is still mangled, but I can clearly see it trying to load some circular brushes. There's some kind of convolution I'm missing, and/or disk corruption, but these do resemble circle brushes.pic.twitter.com/WWXhNNGhN2

The "De-Specialized" edition? I love the amount of work that went into it. Currently there's a grand total of 1 known person with DPB-7000 diskettes,

it just looks like every square is x and y flipped? some bits coming out in the wrong order somewhere? bitfield operation working in the reverse direction? I know nothing of the hardware.

I am arranging for the disks to go to someone who has been recommended to me for archiving old disks. Hopefully they will be able to get a better image than i did. Using a different drive might help as well.

Now we are able to see the brush, would we be able to compare them to the brushes used on the later v-series? I managed to dump them out of the software.

It looks to me as if, as some level, blocks of data have got reversed - an impressive achievement. If you raster them the other way up, those rectangles fit. Or are you displaying 16-bit as 8, with or without inversion or bit reversal?

At the moment, I'm debug-drawing the brush store as YUYV, which as far as I know should be how the main stores work. Oddly enough, the brushes end up looking correct if I invert the low 3 bits when scribbling into the brush store. Other than the disk corruption, anyway.
