This datasheet is hilarious, too. "16,384x1 dynamic ROM" - ah yes, ROM, noted for its dynamism. And then there's the fact that under "Features" it points out it's actually organized as either 2Kx8 or 4Kx4. I think some unfortunate Mostek intern copy/pasted from a RAM datasheet.

Nonetheless, it's exactly what I was looking for, since Atari's "Tank" arcade game used exactly this chip to store its graphics data.

It really is a dynamic ROM. That doesn't mean that the data is volatile, just the nature of the circuitry inside. Almost all PMOS and NMOS chips were dynamic, even many "static RAM" chips. Only the memory cells of the static RAM were fully static; surrounding circuits dynamic.

The 16384*1 headline is definitely wrong, though. Probably, as you suggested, copypasta.
