During the winter and early spring, every time I would go out onto the rooftop terrace for some air, I'd throw a few handfuls of sunflower seeds out for the local corvids. They quickly learned that this was the place to be. One crow turned into six plus a couple magpies.
I really feel bad for my crow buddies near the @ArrowheadGS offices. I think they think I abandoned them, but in reality I'm just working from home due to the COVID-19 situation. :(

My whole plan was that if I could encourage the crows and magpies to think of the rooftop as "their" territory, that they would drive off the asshole seagulls who, the previous year, set up a nest on top of our roof, and would dive-bomb us when we tried to have an outdoor lunch.

Sadly, once the sunflower seeds stopped arriving, the crows eventually figured I abandoned them (because I kind of had), and let the seagulls move in.

Just last week, I had a coworker ping me on Slack and ask for help dealing with the seagull problem, since he couldn't even go out for a smoke without getting dive-bombed by asshole seagulls. I did not have a solution other than suggesting he contact building maintenance. :( ~Fin
