It’s gone mad. Hobby is now a fashion with a price tag to match, saw it in video games and pinball, now it’s reached retro computers. No speccy should ever exceed 30 quid, given that many were built. Same with 64s.

It's gone completely off the rails in Sweden, too. You can find people expecting upwards of 4-5 thousand SEK (roughly 340-425 quid) for shitty old Sun blade servers, let alone actual retro pieces.

Oh back in the day, I had lots of SGI goodies from universities scrapping them - SGI Crimson was my best find.

I still remember the SGI Onyx I had. It was glorious. But I still ended up giving it away rather than trying to resell it when it came time to move. I have to imagine you're sensible enough, too, that you'd have cut a reasonable rate were you to sell it on.

I generally just got back what it was worth, most being passed on. Something you kind of regret as well not hanging on to things, I had a challenge and an onyx2 deskside, but they are heavy and power hungry. Always wanted a Tezro -maybe one day!
