Yeah I don't get it either... It has like... slight realism, but aside from that, it's completely useless
The Poisonous Potato in Minecraft really baffles me. You can't craft anything with it. You can't brew anything with it. You can't grow anything with it. You can only eat it - but it has a different enough texture now that you're just an idiot if you do. Why?

I don't think poisonous potatos give enought saturation to make them worth eating, at least without consuming milk immediately afterwards, due to the saturation loss from having to heal

One potential use is crafting recipes added through mods. When I was designing a mod I may have put it in a recipe or made it a form of ammo. The idea would be players would have to build a huge potato farm if they wanted to make tons of that item or use that weapon.
