A bit concerning. The disk pack looks like it's just that, as it's intended to go into the actual drive itself with all the electronics, mechanics, drive heads, and so on. Do we have just the pack, or do we have a pack and the rest of the kit it goes in?

Yep - it's a removable disk pack (don't think the heads are in the pack - just the platters) that is inserted into a drive. They were the only real way to archive from a standalone Paintbox (if you had a big DLS system I think you could dump out to that ?)

Yes i think it operates essentially like a SyQuest removable disk.

Yea, the data is basically unobtanium as there's no drive to read it in. It would only contain some old images, from MTV if i recall right

Tbh i doubt you need be worried about it, but at least if we do ever find a working drive we could at least understand the disk format from your paintbox work.
