I dunno if it’s just me, but the climate of “there’s nothing to worry about, this is Sweden,” when there is much to worry about, is making me reevaluate occasions where something seemed off, and I assumed it was all in my head. For example, working in a skyscraper with no stairs

I feel a bit like, as an American, I welcome you to being embarrassed about your country... (I guess it doesn’t help but, ya know, we are at least in that together?)

As a US expat myself, that's why I feel so ashamed that I was giving in to that desire to be Swedishly Smug™. I'm quick to jump on the myriad of problems the US has - because my life was miserable before I moved - yet overlooking Sweden's faults feels alarmingly natural.
