What's the first thing you see when you boot up a game? UI. What's the last thing you see after beating a game? UI. A game with cutting-edge graphics, glorious audio, and amazing gameplay, is *nothing* if it has a bad UI or UX.

The best UI is one that is completely unnoticeable to the user, one which informs the user and lets them know what they can and can't do, while being 100% unobtrusive. Because it enables them to do what they want to do, without slinging random roadblocks in the way.

I love a good UI that doesn't waste your time and clearly sets up everything. I think it's way too common for UI devs to try too much flash and lose too much function.

I couldn't agree more. That's why I like the cycle we've got going at
@ArrowheadGS on our next title - get the UI functionality nailed down first and foremost. Then, *maybe*, add flashiness if it's necessary. But the core of the UI needs to be robust before doing anything extra.
