Popular YouTuber puts out a hit piece against MAME because a group of about fifteen consistent contributors and fifty sporadic ones who get paid nothing are expected to have the same throughput as $RetroArch$ and their bumper Patreon crop. I'm shocked. Shocked, I tell you.https://twitter.com/mamedev_org/status/1219694385912258566 …

That's a fairly uncharitable perspective. I got the impression that he was simply pointing out the differences (which I thought it was an interesting fact.) Also found the
@mamedev_org response to be an informative explanation.1 vastaus 0 uudelleentwiittausta 0 tykkäystä -

MAME (and most other emulators) emulating the filters following any given audio chip is the exception, not the rule. It's as surprising as the sun coming up, and as helpful to point out as a crotch punch.
@o_galibert finding a schematic is helpful. "lol MAME wrong" is not.1 vastaus 0 uudelleentwiittausta 2 tykkäystä -

Don't get me wrong, it's a valid criticism, but it's one that's shared by nearly every emulator out there. The difference is that via René "couriersud"'s netlist simulator for discrete components that's part of MAME, we can emulate the filters. But we need schematics to do it.
