Don't forget having various lines of code throughout the project that look like they do nothing but you're too scared to remove them
Real talk, if the code is solid enough, you should be able to explain what any given line you've written does with anywhere from 0 to 5 minutes' given to review the surrounding code. If not, consider refactoring.

Mhm. I've also noticed that the amount of time it takes to gauge what an expression is doing using the surrounding code changes drastically from language to language. It probably correlates to my familiarity with the language, but also I would guess the language itself has a role
