PSA: If your FPGA-based emulator is just based on observation, then unless it exactly replicates all the quirks of the original hardware, it is no more accurate than a software emulator, it's just inaccurate faster

notDude, no kidding. People act like FPGA emulation is some magic bullet, but for ICs that have analog properties it doesn't help you a damn bit.

You have to choose your boundaries/which behavior you're willing to say "these state transitions should be identical to silicon made 20+ years ago". For analog stuff, anything goes until homebrew fab becomes viable :/.

it would be quite hard to get reproducible results close to original silicon at a homebrew fab, and CMP isn't prohibitively expensive in comparison either
