Sony wants you to purchase a bigger television from their vast bigger television range.
Oh, come on. I know you're just being facetious but that's the kind of slagging off of publishers that can be done without. If you want to blame Sony, blame them for not making minimum font size a part of their TRC, but more pragmatically blame the devs themselves.

I used to develop on PS2 and those standards for typeface sizes were super-super strict. Not so much these days.

That's probably since the average display can now show 1:1 pixels and has no effective safe zone rather than dealing with composite smear. Still, I think it's better to ascribe the lack of font size requirement to an oversight than corporate collusion.
