Single glob is a major problem even before you try to work out how you'd emulate the rest. Likely means there's an MCU with CPU+ROM+RAM inside of the one glob, which often means 'no known dumping method' If it was dumped I imagine you'd just do something similar to Golly Ghost.
Was it explained to them, privately and at length, that the change broke more than it fixed? I can't imagine them staying angry for too long if there's a reasonable technical justification for the reversion. Then again, this is the emulation scene we're talking about here.

They were given notification on GitHub, but didn't respond, so it was eventually reverted, but we haven't seen any submissions since. Could just be that progress isn't possible with the current state of the base NES emulation tho.

Could very well be. I still have that NES PPU rewrite that I want to do. Are we still on for a beer buy for the first one of us to rewrite either the NES PPU or the Megadrive VDP? :)

keep up the good work with emulating plug&play systems because those are barely preserved, and I salute you. Also I’m fully aware they’ll get destroyed so I’m picking up every one of these toys I see for melting purposes. If in the future you want them just ask.
