Let's talk about a major problem here in #Stockholm. No, not immigrants - sit down, SD/NMR voters. On the contrary, what I'm referring to are electric kick-bikes, from @limebike and others.

People leave these bikes haphazardly strewn around every sidewalk and tunnelbana/pendeltåg station in existence. They ride rip-roaring down sidewalks without even a casual glance at the people that they're nearly colliding with.

When they do nearly collide with someone, they glare at the pedestrian as if they're no more than an obstacle in a sort of real-life game of Crazy Taxi. As if it's that pedestrian who is at fault for not having a 360-degree field of vision, or being unable to look around corners.

Meanwhile, we stand at tvärbana platforms, dodging idiot children who feel that it's appropriate to ride these electric kickbikes up and down the platform, 'tring'-ing repeatedly as if to shout to the world, "Hey, we're inconsiderate morons, pay attention to us!"

It's a small wonder that I haven't lost my rag and started hurling these nuisances into the sea. The bikes, not the kids. We live on an archipelago, after all - but the sea creatures shouldn't have to suffer these asinine contraptions, either.

Ultimately, I get it - I get that kickbikes are more convenient than just walking everywhere. But the first 10 minutes for free? It's
#Stockholm, ladies and gentlemen, you can get to just about wherever you want to go within 10 minutes. That is not any sort of barrier for entry.Näytä tämä ketju -
But at the end of the day, people should either have to provide their own kickbike, or qualify for one via assistance. This doesn't need to turn into some Escape From New York-esque hellscape, with kickbikes littering the pavement like so many corpses. Stop it!

Yeah I haaaaate these in Auckland too, it’s pretty bad to dodge them every day. At least the owners of their own bikes are kinda more responsible than app-users.
