I should rephrase that - the MAME devs, and the open-source community fixed the latency. ;)
I was going to say, I haven't emulated any synthesizers yet, other than updating Phil Bennett's Fairlight CMI-2x driver, which sadly still doesn't work. :) Glad you've got things sorted!

Yes, but no, but also sort of yes. It's currently non-functional, but it did at one point work somewhat around 10 years ago in another dev's branch, prior to it being submitted: http://philwip.mameworld.info/cmi_iix.html Unfortunately, something regressed between then and it being submitted.

I had a go at implementing the CMI in Verilog many years ago, but didn't get very far once I saw how many wave boards and CPUs that thing has. lol SQ-80 is already sounding pretty good, but does tend to clip with multiple voices playing. I'll have a play with the code later.
