Isn't it great?! You're just following a simple set of imperative statements at first, but after a while you learn what the underlying 'rules' are, then the world is (a little more than figuratively, but not quite literally?) your oyster!
Totally ! Now the objective is to acquire enough practice and knowledge to just do everything with my own rules without too much thinking 
You can do it! Follow enough recipes, or tutorials, and it becomes just like writing code. Sometimes you have to hit up a mentor, but hey, whatever works!
