Completely serious, there's more in common than either profession wants to admit. Can you poison yourself with badly-cooked food? You can destroy your hard drive with a badly-written program. In both cases, it only comes about if you're careless or needlessly adventurous.

Sure, the compiler error is an absolute last-resort, "don't eat this" sort of message. Like you set fire to your dinner. But the end result of your recipe is like user testing. Some people like it. Some people don't. Who's right? What can we learn from it?

Love the analogy here. I've never been into cooking during my engineering school. Now that I've completed my bachelor in CS and am into a master, I love doing that shit every day !!!

Isn't it great?! You're just following a simple set of imperative statements at first, but after a while you learn what the underlying 'rules' are, then the world is (a little more than figuratively, but not quite literally?) your oyster!

Cooking is piss easy, all you gotta do is taste regularly. Kinda like how you debug your code before you serve it.
