GC in games ? Gc was a source of framedrops and it took quite a bit of time to hunt frame allocations down and turn them into pooled allocations. Would have been less of an issue if we had taken care to do that from the start.
In an unreleased XBLIG title that I still have laying around on a half-crashed hard drive, we were seeing hitches of up to half a second due to a combination of my lousy code and their lousy GC. Never would have been an issue if I weren't allowed to shoot myself in the foot.
