Some people believe that life is a zero-sum game, that one person having great stuff in his or her life means that it inherently takes away great stuff from their own life. It's an abhorrent way of looking at things, but some still do.
But that still overlooks the fact that the people that they've been hiring over the time I've been there have been fucking phenomenal, both technically and socially. But yeah. In both cases, I'm not sure how I made the grade, but I'm quite grateful I did.

As someone on the autism spectrum, it's the first job I've had where I don't feel like I'm putting on some BS mask every morning. I can just be myself. And everyone else is being themselves. And it works.

I think the best lesson to take away from it all is that there's always improvement to be made, but it's also worthwhile to be proud of how far you've come. Being egotistical is a death sentence in this industry - but there's no need to be overly humble, either. It's a balance.
