It's only since my 30's that I've been able to really appreciate and comprehend the level of stress she must have been under on a daily basis. Raising an allistic kid is tough at the best of times, and it would be the height of hubris for me to downplay the effort she put in.

When you decide to have a family, you need to accept the reality that your child may end up disabled/not meet any expectations you may set. Parents set expectations on their children to be absolutely peopect whether they intend to or not. This is why family planning is vital.
