It is very different now, but the only way to ensure it has the fighting chance of touching it's former glory is to buy it. You might not love it like you once did, but a 10 year old friend will be thrilled to have it.

That's a very fair point. Just theorizing, but it seems like they turned to ads for funding due to flagging readership. If so, as someone heavily into historical preservation (albeit on the digital side), I wonder if they've considered offering a complete PDF archive to purchase.

Ultimately, if the new owner wants to shut MAD down, there's a profit motive. The sentiment behind the
#SaveMADMagazine hashtag is inspiring, and if every person tweeting it bought a Totally MAD revival, it might provide the necessary wake-up call to corporate. -
For those not in the loop - way back in the day, MAD Magazine offered a complete archive of magazine scans for purchase on a massive number of CD-ROM discs, and eventually a fewer number of DVD-ROM discs. It's still a good idea.

They had real ads for a bit, but haven't for years. Burbank hasn't published any. I am certain it will never go away. It's too big and old and has too much social inertia behind it. Even if DC shutters it, someone will come along to jolt it back into existence.

It's also been said by the former staff over and over, that MAD was at it's best when YOU first read it. I hate to think kids of the future will miss that opportunity to feel like they were pulling back the curtain of adult life. It's vital!

Now that, I completely agree with. I still remember feeling like I was getting one over on my folks by reading MAD magazine at the supermarket magazine section while they shopped, like I was getting a taste of something beyond my normal age-appropriate range.
