Quantel engineers were rather clever. I spent ten minutes looking at this circuit wondering why on earth one would run a signal, and its inverse, into a NAND gate before I realized that propagation delays are a thing, and it's meant to generate a short pulse.

That's literally how a lot of pulses are made in Minecraft circuitry, funny how things converge like that
Funny enough, other parts of this machine I'm emulating use carry look-ahead adders, and I couldn't help but think to myself, "You know, this same carry look-ahead technique would be really useful with redstone".
