Seriously, all respect to Quantel, it takes some serious respect for the engineers to let them win, and not let the bean counters require a redesign to use more consistent hardware across the different cards.

Fun fact: So far I've identified at least three different ICs that Quantel used in the DPB-7000 Paintbox, just for the purposes of multiplication.

So far I've added MAME devices for the TDC1008 and TMC208K/TMC28KU. The former is an 8x8 serial multiplier-accumulator that maintains a 19-bit product. The latter is an 8x8 parallel multiplier. And now I'm looking at the schematic for another card using the Am25S557 multiplier.
