What is the pulse length for the IRQ? Do you just assert it, then wait until the 68K driver Acks it? On the Verilog version, I just hooked up that IRQ to a divider output for roughly 50 Hz, but that's probably wrong, as it might have been trying to re-trigger the int.
At the moment, I trigger it for one scanline. Probably not accurate, but since it's a property of hardware external to the Paintbox itself, I would expect it to be fairly robust in terms of pulse lengths that it handles.

It can do both, when there is no studio sync it should free run and generate it's own sync.

In that case, I should emulate that at some point. But I'm slowly starting to make the call to emulate it on a functional level, rather than a component level. It's less precise to the hardware, but things can be refined downward pretty easily.
