It's absolutely amazing to be holding a Quantel DPB-7000/1 service manual in my hands. Sure, there are older novels, but novels were written with no particular end-of-life date in mind.

I'm looking at the dates on these pages - 6/84, 1/86 - just before and just after I was born - and thinking, wow: The engineers who wrote this never would have imagined that someone in *2019* would be gleaning useful information from this.

The understood technological impermanence of this document is just incredible when contrasted against the fact that it has survived for nearly 35 years. It honestly makes me a bit misty-eyed.
