You can find them for sale on eBay for pretty cheap if you’re so inclined. Older gear is harder to come by but there are plenty of O2s

Not even remotely. MAME saves every video frame and audio, so naturally the resulting saved video plays back full speed.

I'd be remiss if I didn't also give credit to fellow MAME dev Patrick Mackinlay for writing MAME's new, bug-free MIPS R4000 emulation, and external contributor "tyfighter" for rewriting the WD33C93 SCSI controller emulation. Without them, we'd be stuck at the boot menu!
