You can see that there's still some fixing to be done - the colors of the fat bits are wrong - but fixing it required rejigging how I handled pixel data being poked directly into the host data port register. But that's just it - I left host *reads* well alone for the most part.
So overall, the fact that the pear is fixed is deeply unsatisfying to me, because I can't quite elucidate as to why. My fixes felt so unrelated to what was affecting the pear that I wasn't even testing it: Someone else pointed out on Discord that my fixes fixed the pear.
