Do share a little detail on the nature of the defect and its correction.
I would love to, but I'm somewhat at a loss, because I wasn't even explicitly trying to fix the pear. I was instead trying to fix this demo, called Snoop. It would previously just show a grid of single pixels separated by black, rather than the proper "fat bits" view.pic.twitter.com/ci2qY38Uqx

You can see that there's still some fixing to be done - the colors of the fat bits are wrong - but fixing it required rejigging how I handled pixel data being poked directly into the host data port register. But that's just it - I left host *reads* well alone for the most part.

So overall, the fact that the pear is fixed is deeply unsatisfying to me, because I can't quite elucidate as to why. My fixes felt so unrelated to what was affecting the pear that I wasn't even testing it: Someone else pointed out on Discord that my fixes fixed the pear.
