Also, this is mainly thanks to @algestam for doing the actual dumping of the Sharp SM5A's internal ROM, wiring up the LCD to a custom breakout board, photographing the segments, and vectorizing them. All I did was crowd-source funding and do the purchasing of the handhelds. :-)
