A close relationship with a good QA team is golden and a gift beyond measure, full stop
Far too many coders have an an adversarial relationship with QA departments. I get it, I used to be the same way - it feels lousy to be called on your faults. But in this moogle's opinion, there's little that's more important than having a robust and capable QA team.

good do I ever miss a capable qa team.

It's a weird problem where (at least in my experience) programmers aren't taught to take critique and qa have to learn to give GOOD critique on the job. At least in my past experience this is what lead to those adversarial relationships.
